Why Is It That Hotels Are So Much Cheaper Near Lax?

I am finding 4 star hotels that are cheaper near LAX than other areas. I am just curious about the area. I would like to stay in a nice place that is safe and 4 star hotels cheaper than 2 star hotels seems hard to beat! There are 4 girls going on this trip.

    Hi Tara,
In addition to the airplane noise, you have the fact that there is nothing to do in that area. The only thing close to the airport hotels are other hotels, fast food joints, and the strip club. Those hotels cater to business travelers who either drive to an appointment, or are attending a seminar in the hotel. There’s nothing to do, no place to go, and the area isn’t the greatest.
You get what you pay for.

Because the economy is bad, and the surrounding areas are ghetto. Stay near the coast Manhanttan, all the way to Redondo, or North Marina Del Ray is nice too. The areas around the airport are gang infested, old, and run down. Its the travel around, nothing to walk to and the hotels are vyign for the business traveler, not the tourist.

it’s cheaper cause, in addition to the noise, nothing to do and lousy area, the airport is located pretty far from any places where there’s actually stuff to do. That means that you will have to do one of the following every time you wana go out
    1. take the bus or train which can take forever
    2. Pay an arm and a leg to take a taxi
    3. Rent a car and deal with the terrible traffic in that area
So you’ll pay less for the hotel but deal with the headache of transportation.

I can suggest http://gekko.com as ive had a look and there are some suitable alternatives … just didnt know which ones would take your fancy so thought i’d give you the gekko’s website so you can go through them at your own pace. Ive used gekko a lot – i tend to find it gives me what I want – almost like sitting opposite a travel agent…

noise and traffic, and the surrounding areas are ghetto areas like Inglewood, don’t go past the 405 freeway when traveling on Century Blvd

those hotels have the noise from the airport and are located in a not so great area that is not too convenient to the big attractions in los angeles
