At most hotels here in the US, managers do not live in the hotel. Decades ago, they USED to, but that became too expensive for hotels.

Since hotels have taken the law into their own hands and decided to ban smoking in private rooms (even though it’s not illegal), does anyone here smoke in their rooms or have any tips of how to do this without being detected? We pay a lot for a room and now to be told by a frequently used hotel that they are banning smoking, surely this is very unfair. There could even be just a few smoking rooms. It seems like 100% of hotels are now like this and I would certainly not holiday here any more!

Our family of 4 will be traveling to paddington station from the airport and will have several pieces of luggage. We are staying nearby at the Royal Lancaster. We understand it is normally walking distance but with the family and cases are wondering if there is a pay for shuttle or should we try a black taxi(we just didnt know if the taxi would overcharge us for so short a ride). I heard there was something called the “hotel express” but could not find a website that describes such a shuttle. Thanks!

Pls comment on type of accomodation available at various outlets of Fragrance Hotel and Hotel 81.
From number of websites, I am aware that these are 2 star hotels. But I would like to know real insight and real-time experience of anyone who has stayed in these.
