If so, how do you do it. I generally stay in the smaller not-so-nice hotels due to my limited budget but generally speaking, I can only find them on the way to my destinations not ahead of time online.

What’s more popular/in demand? Rooms with one king or two double beds in hotels. The hotels say they pick your room when you check in and I’m trying to figure out which one we’ll get stuck with.
